My cousin is my role model and prime example of how I want to complete my college career. One of her main pieces of advice was that if I stayed organized and had a schedule, I would never pull any late nighters that I didn't want to. Because I'm not completely insane, I always thought it was a little weird that she made the distinction between late studying nights that she wanted to have and ones that she didn't. Doesn't every night owl sitting up with a textbook wish that he was curled up with a movie instead?
But now I get it.
Its almost 2:30 AM and I'm in the undergraduate library with my suite mate and her boyfriend. We checked out a small cubicle and each of us (with the exception of possibly me) is engrossed in our own work. Outside the window, there's a small yet strong number of students at the tables, equally consumed by their individual studying. The whole floor has a sophisticated feel to it and it was breathtaking the way that the soft chit chat turned into hushed whispers which eventually decrescendoed to the pin drop silence that exists right now. Studying this late in my small dorm room would be miserable, but knowing that there's other people out here who are motivated enough to stay up this late in order to finish their school work only motivates me more.
But still, I enjoy my sleep. I don't want to make this an every night affair, but every once in while, it's nice to join the group of insomniac students.
